accepting the consequences

i just read that rick ufford-chase, former moderator of the pc(usa), was one of many people arrested in september for peaceful protests in washington dc against the war in iraq. four other presbyterian ministers were also arrested during the interfaith event, which was coordinated by the national campaign for nonviolent resistance.

i don't know about you, but i think that's frickin' awesome,
and i think i'm to the point where
i'd be willing to
accept the consequences,
too.

rock on, ufford-chase, and others who are not just talking about things, but rather, taking a true stand for what they believe in.

when will it be my turn?

miss leeeeeeeeeeishaaaaaaa!

that's what i heard today when i was out playing a little bit o' futbol with my students at the middle school. i was placed on a team b/c we were low in numbers, and of course i was suckin' it up (i'm really bad at futbol-- not gonna lie, folks). well, one girl, carla, must've said "miss leeeeeeeishaaaaaaa!" just about EVERY time i did something wrong (or just didn't do something right). thank goodness for a good sense of humor. i thought it was adorable! but really, i did try. but they really weren't afraid to talk about how bad i was, right there in front of me. hey, gotta start somewhere, right? it was a lot of fun, all in all, although my hustle to and fro was almost nonexistent. what happened to the good ole' days of being one of the first up and down the court/field/what have you?

step practice went over two hours tonight, and it was probably one of the more intense moments of my life. we perform tomorrow night, which would be a great contributing factor. wish me suerte. this should be a blast............

oh,
and happy (bvu) homecoming! (although i haven't gotten to participate in a single homecoming activity due to a crazy busy sched........ c'est la vie, no?)

warm fuzzies, right when i needed them

so, just as i was really in need of a pick-me-up of sorts, mari had us write love bombardments to each other for staff development tonight. here's what was said about me:

Caring 5

I don’t’ know how you do it. You get everything done and always have a smile. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like your room. It’s way cheery.

Somehow manages to juggle all that’s thrown at her in life.

You know you did a great job at AHLS!!

Funny, likes the outdoors

Marches to the beat of her own drum

Best CO EVER, totally balances soooooo much. Mucho eveoso.

Very individualistic and compassionate

You are my mentor in Spanish

You have a noble soul.

Love your earring collection.

Excited about life

You inspire me so much. I envy your... go get'em spirit. You always have a positive outlook on things. Shoot for the stars because I know you will reach them one day.

...i'm posting this for myself, as a personal reminder that, although at times i may feel like i belong in a nice, white straightjacket in the nearest mental ward, to others, i may still qualify as slightly normal. not that i particularly feel the need to be normal, but hey, you know? thanks again, mari......
