pelìculas and a DATE! :)

i`ve seen two movies in the past two days, here in guanajuato. the first, el luchador (cinderella man). loved it. everyone should go see it. the second, almas malditas (the gathering). didn`t love it so much. in fact, struggled to like it. maybe everyone should stay away from it, unless you`re obsessed with christina ricci looking like she did a bajillion years ago when she was in casper, or if you`re as excited about people randomly getting ran over by large trucks in movies as i am. seriously, just like brad pitt in meet joe black. that was definitely worth my 22 pesos (2 bucks and 20 cents for a movie, in a nice theatre, not tooooooo shabby you know!). yep.

last night brought about more dancing, chatting with locals and hanging out with all the gals from my house sans señora linda, and an invitation for an upcoming date with a local named veto (that`s his nickname of course, pronounced veh-to for all you special nonspanish speaking people... i love you all anyway, though). yes, you heard me right, a date. we`re going dancing at el bar (he said, are you familiar with el bar? i said, are you kidding? i could own the place. hehehe), meeting on the steps of the teatro juarez just like everyone else does here in guanajuato (gotta love it), and heading to el bar. (just a few steps away from, well, the steps.) now for you worryish folks out there, no worries, no worries. i`ve met him a few times... he actually works in bar santo (where we gals spent most of last night)... and we`ve chatted a lot there (and laughed a lot too... apparently he thinks my american accent and inability to roll my rr`s like a mexican is hilarious... gosh, thanks, veto). soooooooo... that was last night, and tonight when shawnna and i were taking a very relaxing stroll through el jardin union, i said to her, ¨wonder if we`ll run into veto?¨guanajuato is a small place and you do tend to see everybody and their mother or dog on the street at any given time, day or night. well, what would you know, almost instantly, there was a tall, handsome local with a great big smile on his face... dressed in a velvety cape outfit... carrying a guitar... so WE HAD NO IDEA HE WAS AN ESTUDIANTINA!!!!!!!!! ok, so. estudiantina is a very popular musical group here in guanajuato. they roam the streets of guanajuato always with followers, playing for individuals, groups, basically anywhere and everywhere. they sing, play instruments, laugh, have fun... and people have fun watching them. they are very talented musically, seriously! so... there he was... and could you just imagine the look on my face. so we chatted it up. and got pics. (you bet i`ll be posting them soon.) i even stole his guitar and pretended to play it a little bit... got a pic of that too... thinking of you, mom!!!!!! (him: you know how to play guitar? me: no, but my MOM does.) hehe. ;) so, yep. talked some more. he´s 23, and finished college about a month ago. studied communications. now has 3 jobs (am unsure as to what the third one is, though). as shawnna and i have said, ¨mom and dad, meet your future son-in-law.¨:) so yep, be looking for pictures soon.

got plenty of homework done today, bright and early. tomorrow is an excursion to la bufa, a mountain that i have a view of from my window and balcony. we are going to climb all the way up it, and repel back down it. am most excited about that!!!!

tonight... ¨a bailar!¨¨

love and miss you all. again, don`t be strangers! (please stop making me say that!!!)
